District 4A Scores – Week 10

Cedar Park  35 – Lake Travis 21

Cedar Park (10-0, 6-0) quarterback Brian Hogan tossed two touchdowns and ran for two more as Cedar ended the regular season undefeated with a 35-21 victory over Lake Travis (8-2, 5-1).

Lake Travis turned the ball over three times in the first half, with two of those leading to touchdowns for Cedar Park as they jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the second quarter. Cedar Park cut the lead down to 28-21 in the second half, but could never complete the comeback.

Cedar Park plays LBJ next in a playoff game while Lake Travis’ game will be against McCallum.

Waco Midway 49 – Killeen 18

Waco Midway (9-0, 5-0) stayed undefeated as they whipped the shorthanded Killeen Kangaroos 49-18. Killeen (8-2, 3-2), playing their second game with starting quarterback Michael Cummings, fell behind 35-15 at halftime and were unable to fight back in the second half.

Killeen will play against Mansfield Summit in a playoff game on Friday night.

Hutto 36 – Bastrop 7

Hutto (9-1, 5-1) rolled to an easy 36-7 victory over Bastrop (7-3, 4-2) behind a powerful running attack that was led by multi-positional star Alondre Thorn. Thorn, a cornerback who occasionally plays on the offense, rushed for 165 yards and four touchdowns. As a team, Hutto rumbled for 431 rushing yards.

Hutto will play Mesquite Poteet on Saturday for the UIL playoffs while Bastrop will play Corsicana on Thursday.

Connally 42 – Manor 7

Connally (9-1, 5-1) stomped the Manor Mustangs (4-6, 1-5)to create a three-way tie atop the District 16-4A standings. Connally was led by running back Kenneth Defee, who ran for 139 yards and three touchdowns.

Connally will take on Lancaster in first round of the playoffs. Manor failed to make the playoffs.

Marble Falls 21 – Vandegrift 7

Marble Falls (5-5, 3-3) held off Vandegrift 21-7 to make their first playoffs since 1998. Vandegrift (4-4, 1-5) just missed out on the playoffs in their first year of varsity football. Marble Falls was led by running back Austin Sparks, who ran for 182 yards and two touchdowns.

Marble Falls will take on Crockett in the first round of the UIL state playoffs.

Vista Ridge 61 – Rouse 7

Vista Ridge (8-2, 4-2) absolutely destroyed the Rouse Raiders 61-7 to make their first playoff appearance. Rouse (0-10) finishes the season winless after they fell behind 40-0 at halftime and were never really in the game.

Vista Ridge will open their inaugural playoff game against Travis.

Smithson Valley 41 – Hays 0

The battle between the top two teams in District 27-4A quickly turned into a one-sided battle as Smithson Valley (9-1, 6-0) poured the points on Hays (6-4, 4-2). The score was 34-0 at halftime as the Hays offense could never even get off the ground, gaining only 94 yards the entire game. Quarterback Parker McKenzie threw for four touchdowns in the rout.

Smithson Valley starts the playoffs against Uvalde on Thursday night. Hays has to shake off this game because they play Kerrville Tivy (9-1) on Friday night.

Lockhart 28 – Lehman 14

Brian Rudder 28 – Elgin 10

None of these four teams will be making the UIL state playoffs, which begins on Thursday.
